Every year, youth learn photography in our summer program, and create a photography show that has been exhibited in businesses, cafes and churches.
The genesis for our youth photography came from Patrick and Luisa Cabello Hansel’s work in an inner-city community in Philadelphia. The neighborhood was called “The Badlands” by the press and the police, which stigmatized its residents. Patrick and Luisa began the Goodlands® Program with a photography class for children. Children as young as six learned the basics of photography, and then were let loose to see and capture the beauty of their community.
Beginning in 2018, we plan to host an annual photography contest for adults.
