Peace Is Beauty—Beauty Makes for Peace
Please Give to Keep it Growing!

2020 has been a stressful year for all of us, and for the community we love so much. The pandemic, the recession, the struggle for racial justice have demanded a lot of our energy and spirit.  It has been a challenge to remain hopeful.  Yet, at the same time, we have seen Semillas—seeds of hope—bursting in our midst.

Semilla has a commitment to working with neighbors for peace, and one of the gifts we bring to that is our love of beauty.  This summer our Young Leaders made beautiful signs advocating for a just, green use of the former Roof Depot in our neighborhood. In September, we had our second Peace Lantern Procession, stopping at places in Phillips that have experienced violence and trafficking.  Our youth worked with artists to design beautiful covers for utility boxes in Phillips. In all these cases, these acts of public art make the claim that beauty—especially in difficult times—makes for peace among those who create it and experience it.

We did GOTV—now it’s time for GTTM!

November 3: Many of us Got Out the Vote.  Thursday, November 19 is Give to the Max Day in Minnesota. A time when people across the state vote a hearty YES! for organizations that make a difference.

We know this has been a tough year financially for many of us.  We also know that art and artists feed our community in such profound ways.  Please consider a gift of beauty at our GTTM campaign site:

Help the Semilla Center work for peace by engaging neighbors to create beautiful public art that inspires hope.
