Semilla On-Line, from Your Very Home!
While the stay-at-home order is still in place, art and healing still happen. We are listening closely to our government officials and health leaders about when, and under what circumstances, we may be able to have in-person classes and events. We still hope to have some kind of summer program, but only if we can make sure we can be sure we can do it with appropriate social distancing, masks, and the like. We hope to be able to announce the application for our Young Artists program in a couple weeks.
In the meantime, making art together still happens! Here’s two fun ways to participate from the comfort of your own home:
“What’s Arting Around in Your House”
There are beautiful things we pass by every day but don’t notice. Maybe you’ve started to notice now that you’re at home all the time. It could be your night table, like the photo above. It could be abstract, like the carpet splat below. It could be an old pipe or rusted trike. Send us your funky photos, folks, and win a prize! Youth and adult levels. Gift certificates from local establishments like Manny’s Tortas and Ingebretsen’s! Contest ends May 31.
“Writing Through a Pandemic”
An on-line writing workshop on how to use the pain and frustration—as well as the joy—of being cooped up at home to write a beautiful poem. Beginners as well as practiced poets welcome! All you need is a pen and paper and a toy! Yes a toy! Monday, May 11 at 7 pm.
