Poetry! Photos! Pandemic!
Art in the Time of COVID-19
Our in-person programs are all on hiatus, like the rest of our world, as we support each other by not seeing each other. But that does not mean that art has to stop! We want to let you know about three things we’re working on.
Poetry: Semilla will be hosting a Live Pop Up Poetry Reading this Saturday, April 25 at 7 pm on Zoom. It will include contributors to our Phoenix of Phillips literary magazine and some local luminary literati. Please e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you the link.
Photography: On Cinco de Mayo, we will launch a photography contest called “What’s Arting Around in Your House” People will be invited to submit a photo of something in their house or yard that is artistic. I doesn’t have to be a painting—it could be an old pipe or rusted trike. There will be levels for youth and adults. Prizes will be gift certificates to help support local restaurants. The two photos here were taken by board members (who are not eligible for prizes—sorry!)
On-Line Workshops: In May, we will be producing on-line workshops in mosaics, lantern making and creative writing. Watch for details!
Happy 50th Anniversary of Earth Day!
