2018: A Great Year! 2019: Even Better!

2018 was a fruitful year for the Semilla Center for Healing and the Arts:

We taught mosaics to English Language Learners at Roosevelt High School, the Multiple Sclerosis Achievement Center, and with over 120 youth during the summer.

We published the 5th edition of The Phoenix of Phillips, with our largest print run ever.

Our Young Leaders learned about careers in journalism, environment, marketing, and community organizing. They presented their 9th photography show at Midtown Global Market.

We began working with a community clinic to measure the effect of making art has on mental health.

We need your help to continue this work in 2019. Please consider one of these key projects.

1) Improve the health and utility of our studio space. We have received a $10,000 grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council to replace the old tile floor and install a commercial air cleaner. We need to raise an additional $1,500 as our match.

2) The cameras for our Youth Photography Program were stolen at the end of the summer. We need to raise $900 to replace them.

You can donate online at

Or mail your check (made out to “Semilla Center”) to 2742 15th Ave S.  Minneapolis, MN 55407

Thank you for helping us continue to plant seeds of power and hope!
